The Kansept Niko is a compact fixed blade built with purpose, blending clean modern lines with a tactical profile that feels perfectly at home in an EDC rotation.
Designed by Marco Panella, the Niko takes inspiration from both kiridashi-style utility blades and ringed defensive knives, resulting in a tool that’s fast in the hand, secure under pressure, and deceptively capable for its size.
With its 3.54-inch D2 blade, featherweight construction, and multiple handle configurations, it’s positioned as an affordable fixed blade that can pull real duty whether you’re on the job, training, or carrying daily.
In this review, I’ll break down its design, ergonomics, performance, and overall value to help you decide if the Niko stands out in a crowded field of compact tactical knives.
If you’re looking for a fixed blade that bridges the gap between practical utility and defensive readiness, this one is worth a closer look

VERDICT SNAPSHOT
If you’re looking for a solid EDC tactical knife, the Kansept Niko is a great choice and well worth the $70 price tag.
Made from durable, hard-use D2 tool steel, the Kansept Niko is a knife meant to be used and abused. Its 7.3-inch overall length is the perfect length for appendix carry.
Its large blade and full-tang design make it ideal for combat and self-defence, and its secure ring, if your hand is small enough, ensures you’ll never lose grip mid-use.
The Kansept Niko is all about practicality and function, and an asset to any operator, regardless of the field you’re working in.

FIRST IMPRESSION
The first thing I noticed about the Niko when I took it out of its box was how slick its design was and how solid its build is.
The Kansept Niko is a beautiful-looking knife, whether in Rose gold as seen here or the more tactical, all-black finish.
It’s got an excellent blade-to-handle ratio, with the blade feeling large in your hand. The Secure loop is nice, but it makes the handle feel a little short.
If you choke up a bit on the handle, though, it feels good in the hand.
Overall, though, the Niko makes for an absolutely awesome first impression, offering nothing but confidence with a slick, bold, and functional design.

IN THE TRENCHES
I have been wearing the Niko for probably four to five weeks now, and I absolutely love it.
The number one reason is the size, and the second main reason is the sheath. In the past, I have bought and run Tek-Lok belt clips if my knife didn’t come with one.
They work great, but they add bulk to the knife, and they don’t always fit the sheath perfectly, so you sometimes have to drill holes to make it fit.
The sheath that Kansept built for the Niko comes with an attached 90-degree adjustable belt clip, allowing you to carry the knife vertically or horizontally.
Additionally, with Niko’s small size, you can run it no matter what you’re wearing, as it’s completely unobtrusive and easily concealable.
So with the Niko’s small frame and ability to run it in a horizontal appendix carry, the Niko performs exceptionally well in any theatre.
It is hands down one of my favourite tactical EDCs.

BUILD BREAKDOWN
STEEL
Kansept made the Niko from D2 tool steel, an excellent hard-use steel for knives meant to be used and abused.
It offers top-notch wear resistance and edge retention, meaning you won’t have to worry about sharpening often while in the field.
It has moderate toughness which means it can take a decent beating without breaking, unfortunately however it does not have the best corrosion resistance.
For this reason, as well as for aesthetics, Kansept has given the Niko a TiCn coating, which, among other things, helps prevent corrosion.

BLADE
The blade is one of my favourite aspects of the Niko. It is a 3.54-inch straight-edged clip point blade with a strong curve that is all work.
The blade feels large for the knife, which offers a lot of confidence while you’re wielding it and provides strong cutting and slicing ability.
The 3.54-inch blade is a perfect size for close-quarter combat or any fine work needed in a stressful survival situation.

JIMPING
The jimping on the spine and handle of the knife is not very prominent but it does offer increased grip while using the Niko with your barehands.
It wouldn’t be noticeable if you had thicker gloves on, but regardless, it adds a nice touch to the tactical and aggressive look of the knife.

SCALES
The Niko’s scales are made of carbon fibre. They offer no real grip to the blade, which is always preferable for a tactical.
The ergonomic design and secure loop make up for the scales to a degree.
What they lack in functionality and grip, however, they make up for in aesthetics. The carbon fiber handles keep with the slick minimalist design of the Niko.

SECURE RING
The secure ring on the tail of the handle provides grip security while using and manipulating the Niko.
If you want to hold the Niko in a traditional grip, you can slip your pinky finger through, or spin it around in your hand and hold it in a reverse grip with your index finger.
Where the ring becomes noticeably useful is in simple cutting tasks; when using a traditional hold, the secure provides a very stable, solid cutting platform.

HANDLE
The handle is ergonomic and sits quite nicely in the palm. It is, however, a little short for a large hand, and because of that, you need to choke up on the knife.
The slim carbon fiber scales provide a very small side profile, allowing your fingers to wrap around comfortably.
In the end, even though the handle is a bit short due to the secure ring, it is still a comfortable hold as long as you ensure to choke up a bit on it.

THE SHEATH
Kansept has given the Niko a Kydex sheath with a 90-degree adjustable belt clip. This built-in adjustable clip is by far one of my favourite aspects of the Niko package.
You can wear the niko right out of the box, either vertically or horizontally, on your belt.
It has a very slim profile, which keeps it close to the body and easily concealable, and it really locks the Niko in place when you’re not using it.
The eyelets around the edge also let you use paracord to attach it to a carrier or backpack.

MY TAKE
BLADE
I love knives that have a large blade-to-handle ratio. And although the actual numbers show there isn’t much difference in the blade and handle sizes, it sure feels like it.
The blade of Niko is just super solid. It’s large, demanding, and all function.
The blade’s curve really pushes the edge out, and the aggressive swedge on top makes it great at penetrating.
It’s tactical, functional, and aggressive, everything a tactical blade should be.

ERGONOMICS AND FUNCTIONALITY
Kansept built the Niko with ergonomics and pure functionality in mind, which is the number one trait every tactical knife needs.
I really enjoy how much Kansept focused on these two aspects specifically for the Niko, ensuring the handle is ergonomic, and the whole blade is, as I said before, pure function.
The straight back handle sits comfortably in your hand, while the swoop at the bottom lets your fingers wrap around it, holding it securely.
Choking up on the handle also puts your hand in the perfect position to use the jimping on the bottom and the top of the knife for increased grip, giving you a ton of control over cutting and slicing.
So, in the end, the Niko gets the job done so everyone can go home.

HANDLE AND SECURE RING
The handle and the secure ring are well designed and of good quality, but I don’t like how short the handle feels because of the secure ring.
The handle, as it is normally without choking up on the knife, is seemingly designed for someone with a smaller hand. My large hands are wrapped around the secure loop if I hold it without choking up.
When held like that, it makes for a very uncomfortable hold, so you have to choke up on the knife.
I think, if Kansept extended the handle slightly to give more room, or did away with the secure look, the Niko would be a five out of five.
So, although these aspects have some good points and meet the expectations of what they were designed to do, I think they could be tweaked slightly to make the Kansept Niko even better.

FAQS
WHAT OTHER MATERIALS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE HANDLE?
The Niko is available in a variety of handle materials, including Micarta, Carbon Fiber, Amber PEI, G10, and Anodized Titanium.
WHO IS THE KANSEPT NIKO BEST SUITED FOR?
The Niko is ideal for tactical users, first responders, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who wants a compact fixed blade that balances speed, control, and durability.
HOW SHOULD I TAKE CARE OF THE NIKO?
D2 tool steel is semi-stainless, meaning it resists corrosion reasonably well but still benefits from routine care.
Wipe the blade clean after use, especially after moisture, food prep, or cutting anything acidic — and apply a light coat of oil to prevent rust.

FINAL CALL
At the end of the day, the Kansept Niko proves that a compact fixed blade doesn’t have to compromise on capability.
Its tough build, confident grip, and purpose-driven design make it a reliable option for anyone who values readiness and real-world performance.
Whether you’re running it as part of a duty setup, throwing it into an EDC rotation, or keeping it as a lightweight field companion, the Niko punches well above its size and price.
If you’re looking for a small tactical blade that actually delivers when it counts, the Kansept Niko deserves a spot in your kit.
